Donald (Don) W. Thurmond

Chairman and CEO (2004-2009) and Founder

Don Thurmond co-founded Truxton Trust Company and served as the Chief Executive Officer until July 2008 and as the Chairman of the Board of Directors until his passing in December 2009.  Mr. Thurmond was well known and respected in the banking and trust industry for over 40 years.  He served as head of SunTrust’s Tennessee trust and investment management group based in Nashville from 1988 to 1993, SunTrust’s Georgia trust and investment management group from 1993 to 1995, and both the Georgia and Tennessee groups from 1995 to 2001.  From 2001 to 2003, Mr. Thurmond served as President of SunTrust’s Institutional Trust Group.
