Truxton Trust Wealth Management Services (WMS) is hiring a Portfolio Manager.  We are looking for an experienced Portfolio Manager with specific capabilities that include equity portfolio management, security analysis and asset allocation.  Truxton Portfolio Managers are integral to the client relationship and the growth of our business.  Therefore, we are looking for a self-motivated person with a passion for investments and empathy for client goals and concerns. 

Job Description

The Truxton Wealth Management Services (WMS) Portfolio Manager (the Position) has dual and integrated responsibilities: Constructing and modifying the Truxton Trust investment program and delivering thorough and thoughtful client specific investment management.  Each Portfolio manager is a member of Truxton’s Investment Committee.  The investment Committee evaluates the risk and return potential of firm investment strategies, for which each Portfolio Manager has focused responsibilities and contributes general knowledge to inform the group’s decisions.  Each Truxton client has a dedicated portfolio manager along with a Wealth Advisor.  The Portfolio Manager writes investment policies appropriate for each client’s goals and circumstances and develops a plan to implement those policies in the client’s best interest.  Diligent follow-up and maintenance, including special situations is critical to our client experience standard.  We expect the portfolio manager to be an integral part of the relationship, understanding the projects underway and developing thoughtful investment solutions to fulfill a comprehensive plan.  In short, our Portfolio Managers think like Advisors, take initiative and regularly communicate with the clients he or she serves.  New client relationships are critical to the future success of Truxton Trust; therefore, we expect all employees to be advocates for Truxton and to seek new relationships and deepen existing relationships to the extent of his or her ability. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide the WMS investment team with insights and recommendations on its strategic and tactical asset allocation decisions given current market and economic conditions,
  • Evaluate various domestic and international equity asset classes and sectors to identify investment risks and opportunities,
  • Provide analytical support and enhance internal processes for WMS’ two principal equity strategies including portfolio construction, idea generation, screening, qualitative analysis and buy/sell decisions,
  • Provide broad analytical support for the WMS investment platform on third party investment products including Separately Managed Accounts, ETF’s, Mutual Funds, and alternative asset managers,
  • Work with Wealth Advisors to develop and deliver comprehensive strategic financial advice to WMS prospects and clients by using quantitative skills to review current investment holdings, budgets, alternative assets, tax situation, estate plans, liquidity needs, insurance coverage, etc.
  • Implement and maintain client portfolios ensuring consistency with investment policy, WMS asset allocation guidelines, appropriate risk controls and desired tax efficiency,
  • Facilitate internal and external investment related discussions and communications consistent with WMS’ philosophy and style,
  • Effectively articulate and communicate investment concepts, strategies, recommendations and results with WMS staff, clients and prospects,
  • Create, review and maintain investment related content such as client proposals and reviews, market and economic updates and special topics as needed,
  • Maintain strong knowledge and command of current and anticipated capital market conditions and how it relates to WMS portfolio positioning,
  • Understand WMS investment objectives and attendant asset allocation ranges,
  • Analyze the portfolios of clients and prospects using custodial statements and various software systems,
  • Work within established WMS policies, procedures and guidelines,

Additional Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics preferred,
  • CFA Charter Holder designation preferred,
  • 10+ years relevant wealth and investment management experience generally preferred,
  • Strong foundational command of investment and comprehensive wealth management industry, practices and issues,
  • Strong foundational command of trust administration, tax and investment management,
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare and deliver persuasive oral and written reports and presentations,
  • Strong interpersonal skills and face-to-face relationship building abilities,
  • Ability and eagerness to understand client's financial situations and personal circumstances, 
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver a distinctive and thoughtful experience that is aimed at providing appropriate advice for the client's situation that secures confidence,
  • Ability to use robust analytical systems such as FactSet and Bloomberg,
  • Ability to work independently and under time constraints,  
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, &
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
